Your books stay yours.
B-Dog reads your QuickBooks to find unpaid invoices and, if you turn reminders on, emails your customers for you. Here is exactly what he can see, what he does with it, and how we keep it safe.
What B-Dog can see, and what he never touches
B-Dog can see
- Open invoices: number, dates, amounts, balance, and billing email
- Payments from the last 12 months, and the paid invoices they cover
- Your active customers: names, email, phone, and balance
- Your company name, contact email, phone, and address
- Invoice PDFs, opened live only when your customer clicks “View invoice.” We don’t keep a copy.
B-Dog never touches
- Your bank accounts, bank feeds, or card numbers
- Payroll, employee records, or taxes
- Changing your books or moving money. B-Dog’s code only reads.
- Your QuickBooks password (he never even sees it)
How we protect it
- 1
You sign in on Intuit’s page, not ours
When you connect QuickBooks, you log in on Intuit’s own screen. Your password never reaches B-Dog.
- 2
B-Dog’s code only reads
QuickBooks doesn’t offer a read-only connection, so we built the limit into B-Dog. The one part of B-Dog that talks to QuickBooks can only read, and an automated test blocks any release that tries to change that.
- 3
Encrypted, and walled off
Everything travels over HTTPS. B-Dog encrypts your QuickBooks keys, your QuickBooks company ID, and your customers’ replies before saving them. Our database provider, Supabase, encrypts everything it stores. Each business’s data is walled off from every other business’s inside the database.
- 4
Nothing goes out without your OK
B-Dog drafts reminders, and every reminder waits for your OK before it goes out. Approval links in your email work once and expire within 72 hours, and every reminder has a one-click unsubscribe.
- 5
Your card stays with Stripe
You pay on Stripe’s checkout page. B-Dog never sees or stores your card number.
- 6
Locked-down pages
Every B-Dog page tells your browser to use HTTPS only, refuse to be shown inside another website, and load its code, fonts, and data only from B-Dog itself. Our website fonts come from bdog.app, so no font company sees your visit.
- 7
Extra checks on sensitive steps
Changing where your customers pay you requires a fresh sign-in. Our own admin sign-in requires a code from an authenticator app.
How B-Dog uses AI
When reminders are on, B-Dog uses Anthropic, the company behind Claude, for two jobs:
- Writing reminder wording. Anthropic gets your business name, your name, the customer’s first name, how many invoices are open, how many days late they are, and how that customer usually pays. It does not get dollar amounts, invoice numbers, email addresses, or notes from QuickBooks. B-Dog fills in the real numbers itself.
- Sorting customer replies. Anthropic gets the reply’s subject and text and suggests a label, like “promised to pay.” You confirm it.
Anthropic’s commercial terms say it may not train its models on what we send.
Deleting your data
- Delete in Settings: we cancel B-Dog’s QuickBooks access and delete your synced data, reminders, and reports right away.
- Disconnect QuickBooks: access is cancelled right away, and your synced data is deleted 30 days later.
- If QuickBooks asks you to reconnect: your data stays while you sort it out. If the connection stays broken for 30 days, your synced data is deleted.
Deleted data can stay in our database provider’s backups until they expire, and our email provider keeps copies of emails under its own terms. If a customer unsubscribes, we keep a scrambled version of their address so B-Dog never emails them again.
Who helps us run B-Dog
- Intuit: QuickBooks itself. You sign in there; B-Dog only sends read requests.
- Supabase: Our database and sign-in. Stores everything B-Dog keeps about your account.
- Vercel: Hosting. Every page and request passes through it.
- Stripe: Your subscription: name, email, card, and billing history.
- Resend: Email. The full content of every email B-Dog sends, and your customers’ replies.
- Anthropic: AI, when reminders are on. Only the details listed under “How B-Dog uses AI.”
Common questions
What happens if B-Dog gets hacked?
Your QuickBooks password, bank login, and card number aren’t stored here, and your QuickBooks keys are encrypted. If something ever affects your data, we’ll email you within 72 hours of confirming it, explain what was affected, and tell you what we’re doing about it.
Can B-Dog send a message I didn’t approve?
No. Every reminder waits for your OK before it goes out. If you don’t approve a reminder, it isn’t sent.
Who runs B-Dog?
B-Dog is built by B-Dog Ventures LLC, a small family business in Minnesota. Our founder has spent his career running IT and cybersecurity for schools, clinics, and nonprofits.
Do you sell my data?
No. Never. Not your data, and not your customers’ data.
Where is my data stored?
In our Supabase database, with the app hosted on Vercel. The full list of companies that help us run B-Dog is above.
